For the second consecutive year, Portugal football player and Real Madrid captain Cristiano Ronaldo has been named as the winner of the Ballon d'Or world footballer of the year. The prestigeous football award was keenly contested with Manuel Neuer and Lionel Messi, Bayern Munich goalkeeper and Barcelona forward respectively.
