Prof Ali Mazrui Passes on at 81
A renown African scholar, Political writer on African and Islamic Studies and North-South Relations has passed on. Prof Mazrui died in the United States hospital after being ill for many months. Born in Mombasa, Kenya on February 24th 1933, Mazrui served in many accolades including being a Professor at the Binghamton University as at the time of his passing.
Among the many dignitaries thrown into mourning is the Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta, who said "Mr Mazrui had been "towering" academic whose "intellectual contributions played a major role in shaping African scholarship". His remains would be flown to Kenya for burial as requested by the Professor.
A great African! May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace.
