Victoria Randle(1863-?) and her kids in London (1901) |
According to Bimbola Babarinde who wrote : "Victoria was the daughter of the wealthy Lagos businessman James Labulo Davies and Sarah Forbes Bonetta Davies, the Yoruba slave girl who was adopted and educated at the personal expense of Queen Victoria. Named after the Queen, she was also Queen Victoria's god-daughter and was educated at the exclusive Cheltenham Ladies' College in England. In 1891, Victoria married Dr John Randle one of Nigeria's earliest Physicians and co-founder of the People's Union, Nigeria's first political party."
