Scottish Mary Slessor 'aka' Obongawan Okoyong (Queen of Okoyong) of Calabar

Mary Slessor was a Scottish missionary who worked and helped in the community of Calabar and environs in Nigeria. Her work and servitude in the local community paved way for her to assimilate into the people through evangelism and protecting children, through abolition of killing of twins children and protecting women's right. Born in Aberdeen in 1848 and died in Calabar, Nigeria in 1915.
Slessor is commonly made reference to in many situations in Nigeria. There are many monuments named after her due to her works and the humanity she served, amongst which is also a commemorative Clydesdale bank Ten pound note in Scotland.
