When Another Earthquake Hits Nepal during Parliament

What do you do when an earthquake hits again while you are all in the parliament trying to solve issues on how to get the country out of the first turmoil.

I still don't understand how this Member of the Parliament remained calm.

Our thoughts and prayers are with them.

Linda Ikeji look-alike spotted

Nigerian most popular blogger Linda Ikeji's double might have been spotted. Her sister, Laura should please step aside. The look on Rochester Humes of The Saturdays on the red carpet at The House of Fraser British Academy Television Awards can't be more uncanny of Linda's image.

I think the socialite and former model would be faced with this image every time she stands in front of a mirror. Linda you'll agree with me I'm smart eh? Lol.

I hope this revelation makes your day though.

Have you seen Chuka Umunna's girlfriend?

Former City lawyer and United Kingdom's Labour Party leadership potential Chuka Umunna yesterday attended Andrew Marr Show with his girlfriend, Alice Sullivan hand in hand.

So good to see the British politician born of a Nigerian father with his girl in public probably for the first time. I guess no hopeful Nigerian-lady-secret-admirer's heart is shattered by this image before us.

Anyway ladies no more slacking!

Another picture.

Prince of Wales, Prince Harry recently paid a visit to New Zealand. He met with the Prime Minister John Key and his wife Bronagh and Governor General Sir Jerry Mateparae and his wife Lady Janine at Government House in Wellington.

Black Bear Encounter

A videographer Winston Greely, recently caught this footage of a black bear and her cubs near Gardiner in South -Central Montana, America.
Wildlife...What more can I say. You'd hear a woman unleash her cry in her attempt to run. I always feel these animals should be given room to roam and not disturbed in their habitat.

'Red Dust Road' by Jackie Kay

Recently the Saltire Society Scotland had their inaugural 'Outstanding Women of Scotland 2015' induction. My instinct for inspirational women kicked in with a search for the profile of the inductees, where I discovered motivational stories of them and interestingly realised that one of them Jackie Kay MBE has a Nigerian root!

Reading more about her, the Professor of Creative Writing has published several memoirs. I got hold of one of  her books titled "Red Dust Road", an autobiography where she narrates her adoption by her Scottish mum and dad, her efforts to trace her Scottish biological mother and her Nigerian biological father. She also gives a succinct narrative of her journey to Nigeria which connects me to this beautiful writer. Some of the places she mentions in Nigeria and the people who assisted in her search makes me appreciate her efforts and the things we take for granted.

As a renowned poet, I found her writings comprehensive, easy to understand and endearing. I also cannot forget laying my hands on a piece on her by another writer, Aminatta Forna. Forna likened Kay's circumstances to her's (born by an African father in the 60's and raised in Scotland) except for her adoption.

So much amazement and adventurous book. I'd definitely recommend a read.

Who agrees with me?

When Africans don't challenge their leaders, then it means all is supposedly well with them and they have nothing to grumble about. It is only in Africa you find rulers ruling for these long tenures without battling eyelashes.
Not having enough infrastructural and economic development to show for their long stay in powers. Otherwise we should not have the 'state of emergency' Africa has found itself in today.

My take. Who else agrees with me?

Another celebration day for Mums

Whether or not its Mother's day in America and some other places today, I believe mothers should be celebrated everyday. Here's to every mum keeping it together all over the world reading this.

May all your labours never be in vain. *Smiles*

Best and Worst Place to give birth

Nordic countries are doing quite great in several areas of human endeavour. The standard of living in these countries is among the best in the world, so also is the state of their infrastructure.
Relatedly, The State of the World Mother's annual report of Save the Children has rated Norway, Finland, Iceland, Denmark and Sweden as the five best places to give birth in the world.

The report put United Kingdom and the United States in the 24th and 25th position respectively. And the five worst places according to the report are Niger, Mali, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo and Somalia.

Waoh...Africa needs to buckle up!

Alesha Dixon: Azuka must go on his knee

Britain's Got Talent judge Alesha Dixon would not take anything less from her partner Azuka Ononye but a go on his knee to propose to her despite the Nigerian severally mouthing proposal.

The showbiz celebrity revealed Azuka "has asked me to marry him loads of times now. He's always doing it, but I always say no. It's like he's joking around. I want him to buy a ring and get down on one knee...."

Alesha... Alesha!!! Please when next he asks you to marry him again, please say yes... some of these Nigerian men are not known to be romantic ;) If you know what I mean... hahahaha.

Andy Murray's way to safeguard his wedding ring

Tennis world number 4 and Britain's number 1 Andy Murray went extra length in safe keeping his wedding ring during BMW Open in Munich, Germany

The Scot tied-in the ring to his shoe lace at the final tournament. It might be right to say that the ring from his marriage to Kim Sears a month ago is a luck bearer as the player won the tournament- his first tournament after the wedding.
The win is also the first clay-court title after 39 years for Britain. I guess his efforts at not misplacing the ring has revealed a wonderful treasure it is!

Dakore Akande - “We Live In A Highly Sexualized World”

Dakore Akande is one Nigerian actress who I love her ability to juggle motherhood/parenthood with career. In her recent post on her blog, she wrote about the modern day technology, its woes and our children.
She bares it all in her post...Enjoy.
"On today’s post I want to share the challenge I face as a parent on a daily basis as it concerns digital media/new technology/television.
Growing up we didn’t all have access to it or only had ‘restricted’ access. In my case when school started we weren’t allowed to watch TV so we could concentrate. Yeah, my folks were hard-core like that. We didn’t have much choice in terms of what to watch, it was either “Voltron”, “Sesame Street” or “She-Ra” on television or music videos on Betamax or VHS cassette. Wow, my age don dey show o!

Today's Wise Saying

“A man who calls his kinsmen to a feast does not do so to save them from starving. They all have food in their own homes. When we gather together in the moonlit village ground it is not because of the moon. Every man can see it in his own compound. We come together because it is good for kinsmen to do so.”- Chinua Achebe.
